Nov 21, 2013 Michael started labor on the 20th and finally had a C section on the 21st. For over 24 hours, we were all checking Facebook for updates and, of course, the baby's arrival was announced via Facebook. It's actually a great way to spread the news quickly and the rest of us had a lot of fun conversations on Facebook while we were waiting.
Nov 18, 2013 I wanted Cody to have a little more room to roam but didn't want the expense or work of fencing in the entire back yard so I put a fence between the house and shed, blocking off easy access to the driveway. Even though the dogs could still get to the road by bush whacking their way through goldenrod and ozure dogwood, I'm assuming that they won't as long as I don't leave them unattended for long periods of time. (The fence is actually longer than my cartoon makes it seem; the hyperbole of the cartoonist.)
Nov 24, 2013 Michael and Gerald couldn't decide whether to name the baby after his grandfather Leo or her grandfather Donald and so finally Michael told Gerald to choose and let her know which she had decided. He chose Leona because he said, "She has the heart of a lion." As she grows up, she will probably very much appreciate that Gerald broke with DeMott tradition and actually gave his daughter a girl's name.
